Temporary Noise Control for Motorsport Event

Industry
Project Overview

Major events often present unique noise management challenges, particularly when construction, bump-in and operational activities take place close to surrounding businesses, residents and event infrastructure.

For a car racing event, organisers required a temporary noise control solution that would minimise noise impacts while remaining flexible enough to accommodate the fast-paced nature of motorsport.

RVT Group was engaged to supply and install 818 lineal metres of SOUNDEX® Sound Blocking Quilts, providing an engineered temporary noise barrier capable of reducing noise by up to 28.2 dB.

Challenge

Delivering temporary noise control for a large-scale live event required a solution that could:

  • Reduce noise generated during event construction and operational activities.
  • Help minimise the impact of noise on surrounding areas.
  • Be installed quickly within tight project timeframes.
  • Withstand outdoor weather and ‘event’ conditions throughout the event.
  • Meet the demands of a temporary installation without compromising performance.
  • Be easily configured to suit varying site layouts and infrastructure.

The client required a robust, proven engineering control that could deliver reliable acoustic performance while supporting efficient event delivery.

Solution

Following consultation with the client, RVT Group supplied and installed 818 lineal metres of SOUNDEX® Sound Blocking Quilts throughout the site.

The system was selected to:

  • Provide temporary noise reduction of up to 28.2 dB.
  • Create effective sound barriers around noisy work and operational areas.
  • Reduce noise transmission through high-quality patented Velcro side connections that minimise sound leakage between quilts.
  • Perform reliably in outdoor conditions with fire-resistant and weatherproof construction.
  • Deliver a flexible solution that could be installed, reconfigured and removed efficiently as project requirements changed.

Our experienced installation team worked closely with the client to ensure the acoustic barriers were positioned for maximum effectiveness while maintaining safe site operations.

By implementing our temporary acoustic barrier system during this large-scale event, the client stayed compliant with noise management. Knowing that the acoustic quilts were durable, weatherproof and fire-resistant, also gave them added peace of mind.

The project demonstrates how engineered temporary noise control solutions can help major events effectively manage noise (and brand reputations) while maintaining operational flexibility.
