Our LEV engineers have undertaken extensive training to ensure that your team is properly protected from hazardous airborne contaminants in the workplace. Some of the BOHS LEV Proficiency Qualifications held by our team include: BOHS P600 – Methods for Testing Performance of LEV, P601 – Thorough Examination and Testing of LEV Systems, P602 – Basic Design Principles of LEV Systems, and P604 – Performance Evaluation, Commissioning and Management of LEV. Our team have also achieved W201/M200 – Basic Principles in Occupational Hygiene.
We hope that this level of expertise gives customers confidence in our service levels and the solutions we specify. All systems are designed and specified in accordance with applicable Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, Safe Work Australia guidance and relevant Codes of Practice, as well as applicable Australian Standards and state or territory regulatory requirements.
Our solutions are designed to effectively control airborne contaminants at source through local exhaust ventilation (LEV) and to assist workplaces in meeting their duties under applicable WHS legislation and the relevant Workplace Exposure Standards or Workplace Exposure Limits for airborne contaminants.
Once a solution has been specified, RVT Group offers two types of delivery service: delivery with full installation, or delivery only for customer installation.
When we provide delivery with full installation, we commission the system and provide a comprehensive written commissioning report. The system is assessed in accordance with applicable Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, relevant Codes of Practice and guidance, and any applicable Australian Standards.
The commissioning process includes details of the system design, the airborne contaminants or hazards it is intended to control, equipment specifications, operating requirements, training provided to workers, any supplementary PPE requirements, and the results of qualitative and quantitative performance tests.
Quantitative testing includes measurements such as duct velocities and capture or face velocities, as appropriate to the application. These measurements help us verify that the system provides sufficient airflow to effectively capture and transport airborne contaminants and minimise the risk of material settling within the ductwork.
Qualitative testing may include visual assessment techniques, such as smoke testing and light-scattering techniques, to demonstrate airflow patterns and confirm that contaminants are being effectively captured at source.
Where applicable, system performance is considered alongside the relevant Australian Workplace Exposure Standards for airborne contaminants and other workplace risk-control requirements.
If you opt for a delivery-only service, we will provide documentation confirming that the supplied equipment has been inspected and tested and is operating correctly prior to delivery. As the system is installed by the customer, the customer is responsible for ensuring that the completed installation is appropriately commissioned and verified as effective for the intended application and workplace conditions.
Yes, our LEV consultants are experts in hazard control and can help assess your site requirements, propose the right extraction hood, fan, filter, and duct configuration, to provide a fully compliant solution.
Yes, we have high-pressure fans that can be used as part of the LEV system, that sit outside the work area and operate with narrow and long lengths of ducting runs, making them suitable for confined work areas that are based a long way from the atmosphere.
Yes — for example, for dust we have DUSTEX® DustMaster® Pro and for fumes we have RAVEX® Wandafilta Plus - Extraction & Filtration Kit.
Yes, we offer temporary hire of LEV solutions, which makes them ideal for shutdowns, maintenance, welding, or cutting tasks. Our team will help design and set up the system for your specific project needs.
Particulate filters capture coarse and medium dust particles from processes such as cement handling and wood cutting, while also providing partial removal of finer particulate matter.
Fine filters improve visible dust removal and are commonly used for low-toxicity dusts or as a protective pre-filter stage for high-efficiency filtration systems, including HEPA filters.
High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters are among the highest efficiency particulate filters commonly used in industrial applications. They are designed to remove at least 99.97% of airborne particles at 0.3 microns, making them highly effective for capturing welding fume particulates, smoke, fine dust and airborne bioaerosols, including those that may carry viruses such as COVID-19. HEPA filters target particulate matter only and do not remove gases or vapours, which may require additional filtration methods.
Note: Particulate filters cannot remove gases. Gas control requires filters containing activated carbon or similar media, which trap gas molecules on their surface as air passes through.
Our standard LEV setup includes a capture hood, ducting, a fan, a filter, and a discharge point.
Our LEV systems are designed to extract a variety of hazardous airborne contaminants including welding fumes, solvent vapours, gases, mists, and fine or heavy dust.
We provide a full suite of LEV solutions for fume, dust, mist, gas, and vapour extraction. Our range includes portable fume extractors, duct‑mounted filtration units, and large multi‑spigot LEV systems, tailored to the needs of construction, industrial maintenance, and confined‑space work.
Yes, we can supply an LEV kit which will come with a TExT certificate. The certificate demonstrates that the kit was supplied in good operational condition, but it is the customers responsibility to check that the system is properly installed and working as intended.
Yes, our Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems undergo Thorough Examination and Testing before leaving our warehouse, so you can rest assured that it’s compliant and in peak working condition when it reaches you. Our LEV testing is carried out by qualified LEV engineers who hold BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) certifications (e.g. P600, P601, P604). A Local Exhaust Ventilation system is designed to extract contaminants like dust, fumes, mists, fibres, gases and vapours at the source. LEV hire systems are subject to a Thorough Examination & Test every 14 months, providing evidence that the equipment is in top condition for use on site. The use of local exhaust ventilation (LEV) equipment on site helps ensure teams comply with Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) Regulations and relevant Safe Work Australia guidance.
