RVT's Noise Monitoring System Supported Decision Making on Site

Project Overview

A commercial construction client needed to assess when the least disruptive and least hazardous time would be to perform site fit-out work at a busy workplace. Our MONITEX® Area Noise Monitor EM2030 was installed to record and provide real-time data on existing site noise for 24-hours, to aid in their decision making.

Challenge

Our construction client was appointed to carry out significant work at a high-intensity, industrial and noisy workplace. Their client was concerned that additional noise exposure (from the required construction work) might become an issue.

To ensure Safe Work Australia’s maximum average daily exposure for a worker – 85 dB(A) over 8 hours – would not be exceeded, a baseline reading of existing work noise activity was required.

By getting this baseline existing noise recording over 24 hours, the data would guide decision making as to when our client could perform their work, without causing hazardous noise exposure to all site workers.

Solution

Our highly experienced and passionate Technical Consultant, Stuart, went to site, assessed, tested, and installed our MONITEX® Area Noise Monitor EM2030 for the baseline measurement. Our heavy-duty kit was placed in a strategic, out-of-the way but relevant position, and decibel and time data was fed back to the client immediately via cloud-reporting.

This resulted in a successful outcome - Our construction client was equipped with accurate real-time data to be able to schedule their fit-out works, at times that would not be hazardous to all workers’ health.
